Upgrading the toolkit

The toolkit will change often during the beta. This page is how a new version reaches the folder on your machine: what the assistant does when you ask it to upgrade, what it never touches, and how to do the same by hand if you would rather.

This is the page for the toolkit, the one installed with a single prompt in the Claude desktop app. The downloadable toolkit from the portal upgrades differently: see Upgrading the downloadable toolkit.

The short version: in the toolkit folder, ask the assistant to upgrade. It compares your version with the newest release, fetches it, checks the download, replaces only the toolkit's own files, and tells you what changed. Nothing of yours moves.

Ask for the upgrade

Open your toolkit folder in the Code tab and send:

Upgrade the toolkit.

If you are asked for permission, say yes.

Your own files are not touched: your brands, your edits, your backups, your notes and the way you have taught the assistant to work all stay exactly as they are.
